Self Portrait – Day 3 of 7

Roughly repeating the last post & position but at the end of the working day and a little more tired.

Having more time before cooking, I took a little more effort with the lights; An AD200 in a gridded (and softened) small 300mm dish, placed to the left of the camera, way to close to me due to the size of the room set to TTL.

I used the grid as I wanted to stay with the higher contrast of yesterday’s image, keeping the background darker.

The painting behind me is one of my self portraits (any one who follows my instagram will know I go through periods of being a gym rat).

Yes that is the manual on the screen as I needed to double check which 3.5mm socket was the remote trigger socket (which doubles as a microphone input) as this time I wanted to trigger the camera with Pocket Wizards.

Small steps of progress.

This small dish is my “quick and dirty” go-to for portraits. It’s quick to set up, does not take much space up and if positioned correctly (a bit further away with no grid) can produce quite nice light. Let see how I get on tomorrow as I am leaving it out for tomorrow’s image, where I will go for a softer version.
