They can write AI to rip off images…

But they can’t write decent spam filters?

(Mild Rant).

Over the holidays I opened an Etsy store and added a couple of postcards to it. Within minutes I received a number of scam messages…

Etsy Scams…

All purporting to be from “Etsy Staff”, all requesting me to “Click a link” to approve something or other.

Anyone who runs a Facebook page for their business will be familiar with these types of scams as I am sure I am not the only one that receives many of these sorts of messages a month..

Facebook page scams.

ALL of these messages (on their respective platform) use similar wording and techniques:

  • On Etsy they all have the Etsy logo and are signed from Etsy Support Staff.
  • On Facebook they mostly flag “Intellectual property rights” and are signed from Facebook.

Given the current state of Ai (advanced) and the commonality of the messages, I can only assume that for some reason, the platforms (Facebook and Etsy) are happy to host these scammers. If there were not, I can see no reason at all why these messages would not be delivered.

What are your thoughts on this situation? Please get back to me with your comments.

Here are the Ai Helper tool’s thoughts on this post (just to hi light the state of Ai)…

Until Next Time.
