I have been struggling with the subject for the next post and then this morning I started editing the keynote I have been presenting to camera clubs for the past few years in to this new “style” title.

For the last few years my talk has been about how press photography, in particular how entertainment & royalty press photography, works. When I was asked to talk at Uckfield Camera club I thought it was time for an update, so I am tweaking my presentation to talk more about how I built my career and the journey to have the confidence to create the style of images I want to create.

I am not going to pre-empt the talk now, I have a week to hone and finish the presentation. What I can say is that it will include the conversation that the tools you use have a huge impact on your style and therefore you should choose the tools that will help you create the images you want to create.
I will also talk about having the confidence not to follow the herd, which requires a really deep knowledge of the why’s & when of technique that has shaped the way the herd works. (Confidence or the lack of is always a touchy subject in any artistic pursuit) .
Do you have any anecdotes about your style and how it came to be? I would love to hear your feedback.
More soon; after the talk it’s off to Glastonbury. Maybe my next post will be a look back over some of my favourite Glastonbury moments.
