Is it still too soon…

…to talk about the Euro’s Football?

I spent the quarter final in Brighton, photographing the joy and the pain of a few thousand fans in the fan-zone, witnessing the beer-throwing joy as England won.

For the semi-final I thought I would do something a little more intimate (and maybe more representative of how many fans were watching the match). I went to my local, letting the managers know I had a camera (ending up sitting and drinking with the land-lady, but thats another story!) The key being I had a camera (the X100VI obviously, the perfect low-key/high quality tool for the job).

When you get used to a place you sometimes forget just how dark it is. One side of the bar 3200ISO was enough but as I moved around, the shutter speed (shooting in Aperture Priority) was just slowing down too much so I had to use a good dose of ISO.

Even with it’s single (128GB) card, I shoot both JPG ad RAW meaning that straight after the match I could head home (about 200 meters) and run the files through PureRAW before sending.

Editing on my main Mac, I use Photomechanic to ingest the images from the card. This allows me to ingest either just RAW’s, JPG’s or all. The images are then selected and captioned before running through pureRAW.

With pureRAW set to export the processed DNG files into Lightroom Classic, it’s then a quick edit (where the demosaiced files respond far quicker than the native Fuji Raw files), before exporting as JPG’s and FTPing to distribute.

Even the max ISO of 12800 is useable with this workflow!

Not long until the premiership starts again!

Until next time
