Batteries with USB-C ports?

Ok, I’m obviously behind the curve here because I had an WTAF moment yesterday.

I decided I need a couple of new batteries for my X100VI before leaving for a short New Year’s trip away. I was actually looking for original Fujifilm 126S items which I could get delivered in time when I came across these K&F Concept 2-Pack NP-W126 NP-W126S Battery with USB C Fast Charging on that shopping site.

One of the problem with 3rd party batteries and chargers is that they only charge on 2 pins which (as far as I understand) may lead to over heating and a slight swelling during the charging process. (Any slight swell on a battery means not only may it be risky to use, but it will stick inside the battery compartment of an X100).

Does the fact that these items have thier own power input and charging mean this won’t happen? Only one way to find out (I’m a sucker for a tricksy item)..

So with a pre 10pm delivery (ordered at 11AM how do they do that?) I put them on charge for use this morning.

With the charging unit taking up some of the thickness, they are bound to be down on capacity (specs show this) but they might be handy to have around as a back up – we will see!

Have any of you had experience with batteries such as these? Let me know…

  1. I’ve bought a set of two, one for my X-Pro2 and the other for my X Half. So far they are working well, they also seem to cope better with the cold than the ORM batteries.
